Lanie Goodell is an American author and single mother. She is also a 7th grade English teacher who is inspired, daily, by her incredibly enthusiastic students. She is an avid flash fiction fan and loves the challenge of writing an entire story in just a few words, participating in contests to improve her skill. Many of her short pieces have been published and can be found through links on the Work by Lanie page of this site.
Though her professional history is varied, ranging from teaching to enforcement activities, Lanie channels these experiences into her writing to create a plausible experience for the reader. Her adult horror novel, found on Amazon, is the marriage of her enforcement and psychology training.
The mother of a teenage son, she enjoys spending time exploring his interests. They can often be found haunting Asheville, NC, the town in which Lanie was raised. You can look for them at concerts, hanging with friends at Highland Brewing, and in the kooky little stores that make downtown interesting. Lanie loves that her son is interested in the horror genre and he has sparked much of her recent creativity. A writer himself, her son is often throwing ideas her way.
Lanie has an AAS in criminal justice technology, an AAS in psychology, an AA, and a BA in psychology. She is fascinated by the exploration of new subjects, always looking for new and intriguing information. In her free time (haha what little there is), Lanie enjoys concerts with her brother and 5K races with her son and close friends.
